FTM<\/b> stands for Female-to-Male<\/i>. Put simply, it describes the journey of a man who was assigned female at birth but has always known himself to be a man.<\/p>\n

It might seem like a complex topic if you\u2019ve never looked into it, but it\u2019s actually a natural part of human diversity. It\u2019s not a 'whim' or a 'phase'\u2014it\u2019s simply a person\u2019s search for their own truth.<\/p>\n

\"The goal of every living being is to be fully themselves.\"<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sometimes, biology and identity aren\u2019t on the same wavelength. An FTM<\/b> individual feels a deep need to align his body with who he knows he is in his mind: a man<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Understanding your true identity isn\u2019t always easy. Usually, the first step is talking to a professional who can help clarify gender dysphoria<\/i> (that sense of unease you feel when your body doesn\u2019t reflect who you are).<\/p>\n

Some people think this is an 'unnatural' choice, but the truth is that no one would choose such an uphill battle if it weren\u2019t a vital necessity. It\u2019s not confusion or a phase, and it\u2019s not about sexual orientation: a trans man simply wants to live his life authentically.<\/p>\n

Modern science explains that gender identity and biological sex are two different things. An FTM is, quite simply, a man born in a body that doesn\u2019t reflect his identity.<\/b><\/p>\n

There is no deadline for realising you are trans. Some people know when they are three years old, and others figure it out after a lifetime of feeling 'out of place' or dealing with depression they couldn\u2019t explain.<\/p>\n

The transition process is about feeling better. Once things are clear, the next step is usually medical: contacting an endocrinologist to start testosterone<\/b> therapy. This is where the transformation happens: the voice drops, muscles become more defined, facial hair grows, and the body finally begins to 'speak' the right language.<\/p>\n

Tools of the trade for an FTM:<\/b><\/p>\n

  • Men's clothing:<\/b> Often loose-fitting to feel more comfortable with one's shape.<\/li>\n
  • Binder:<\/b> A special garment used to flatten the chest to create a more masculine appearance.<\/li>\n
  • Packer:<\/b> A prosthetic that simulates a bulge in the pants, which is essential for many people's self-esteem.<\/li>\n
  • Fitness and style:<\/b> A good haircut and some time at the gym help build the self-image they\u2019ve always dreamed of.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The first year is definitely the toughest: you have to relearn how to present yourself to the world, manage voice changes, and find your balance. But it\u2019s worth it.<\/p>\n

    So<\/i>, at the end of the day, who is an FTM?<\/b><\/p>\n

    Many would say he is simply a man.<\/b><\/p>\n

    And they are right.<\/b><\/p>\n

    But he is also someone who had the courage to take his life apart and put it back together to stop lying to himself.<\/p>\n
